Zendesk Pricing Explained (2026): What a 3-Person Team Pays
Zendesk pricing starts at $19 per agent per month. Most teams need more than that plan. The real bill depends on three things: the plan that has the channels you need, how many resolutions the AI agent makes, and whether you pay yearly or monthly.
This post reads the Zendesk pricing page line by line and turns it into totals for three concrete teams. Every Zendesk number below comes from zendesk.com/pricing and the Zendesk help center as of October 1, 2026. Prices are in USD. Where Zendesk does not publish a price, this post says “not published”. Use it to set a budget before your sales call.
Zendesk pricing plans in 2026
Zendesk sells two plan families. Support plans cover email and ticketing. Suite plans add messaging, live chat, a knowledge base, and telephony. The pricing page shows one Support plan and three Suite plans.
| Plan | Paid yearly (per agent/month) | Paid monthly (per agent/month) | Included AI resolutions | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Support Team | $19 | $25 | 5 per agent/month | Email and ticketing, routing, prebuilt dashboards, macros, triggers |
| Suite Team | $55 | $69 | 5 per agent/month | AI agents, knowledge base, messaging and live chat, telephony, omnichannel routing |
| Suite Professional | $115 | $149 | 10 per agent/month | Admin Copilot, writing tools, skills-based routing, IVR phone tree, up to 100 light agents |
| Suite Enterprise + Copilot | Not published | Not published | 15 per agent/month (help center) | Intelligent triage, Auto Assist, approval workflows, sandbox, custom roles |
The pricing page says “20% off annual”. The real discount depends on the plan:
- Support Team: $25 minus $19 is $6. $6 ÷ $25 = 24% off.
- Suite Team: $69 minus $55 is $14. $14 ÷ $69 = 20% off.
- Suite Professional: $149 minus $115 is $34. $34 ÷ $149 = 23% off.
The trial is 14 days on Suite Professional features, with Copilot included. Zendesk also runs a startup program: a 6-month trial of the Suite for up to 50 agents (up to 2 years through partner VCs and accelerators), for early-stage companies that qualify.
Zendesk AI pricing: automated resolutions and Copilot
A model in transition. The pricing page still lists $1.50 and $2.00. Zendesk’s help center calls this the platform “prior to resolution tiers”. Zendesk introduced resolution tiers on May 18, 2026. New accounts “will see the new resolution tiers”, and tier pricing is “negotiated” with sales, per the help center article on upgrading to resolution allowances. The tier prices are not published. The examples below use $1.50 and $2.00 as the only public reference rate, not as a quote. Zendesk’s help center explains how to check which version your account uses.
Zendesk says AI agents are “included in every Suite and Support plan”. That is true for a small number of conversations. Above that number, you pay per resolution.
Automated resolutions (ARs). Zendesk bills its AI agent per conversation that the AI resolves with no escalation to a human. The help center article on the pre-May 2026 automated resolutions platform says an LLM checks each conversation flagged as resolved to confirm that the request was resolved with no human. For billing, an email conversation ends 72 hours after the first email. A messaging conversation ends 2 hours after the first message by default, and you can raise that to 72 hours. Conversations that go to a human do not count.
| AR item | Price |
|---|---|
| Included | 5 per agent/month (Team plans), 10 (Professional), up to 10,000 per year per account |
| Committed resolutions (bought ahead, 100 or more) | $1.50 each (pricing page) |
| Pay-as-you-go resolutions | $2.00 each (pricing page) |
The help center adds one detail that matters for annual buyers: “Overage is billed monthly, regardless of your subscription terms.”
Copilot. Copilot is an AI assistant for your human agents, not for customers. It costs $50 per agent per month, paid yearly. It can be added to Professional and higher plans only. A monthly-billing price is not published.
Worked example 1: 3 agents, no AI
Assumptions: 3 people answer customers. Channels are email and website chat. You do not turn on the AI agent. Website chat needs Suite Team, because Support Team does not list messaging or live chat.
Suite Team, paid yearly:
- 3 agents × $55 = $165 per month
- $165 × 12 = $1,980 per year, committed for the full year
Suite Team, paid monthly:
- 3 agents × $69 = $207 per month
- $207 × 12 = $2,484 per year
Annual billing saves $504 a year. The decision rule is simple. A year of Suite Team at $55 costs $660 per agent. At $69 a month, $660 buys 9.6 months. If you are not sure you will keep Zendesk for at least 10 months, pay monthly. The same rule holds on the other plans: annual Support Team equals 9.1 months of monthly billing, and annual Suite Professional equals 9.3 months.
If you only need email, Support Team costs 3 × $19 = $57 per month yearly, or 3 × $25 = $75 per month on monthly billing.
Worked example 2: 3 agents with 300 AI resolutions a month
Assumptions: the same 3-agent team on Suite Team, paid yearly. You get about 1,000 conversations a month. The AI agent resolves 30% of them with no human, which is 300 automated resolutions. This rate is an example, not a benchmark. Measure your own.
Seats:
- 3 agents × $55 = $165 per month
Resolutions:
- Included: 3 agents × 5 = 15 per month
- Billable: 300 minus 15 = 285 per month
Option A, pay-as-you-go at the reference rate:
- 285 × $2.00 = $570
- Total: $165 + $570 = $735 per month, or $8,820 per year
Option B, committed resolutions at the reference rate:
- 285 × $1.50 = $427.50
- Total: $165 + $427.50 = $592.50 per month, or $7,110 per year
Here the AI meter costs 2.6 to 3.5 times as much as the seats. The headline price hides this line, and it grows as the AI agent does more.
Break-even rule. On Suite Team paid yearly, at the $2.00 reference rate, the AI line passes the seat line at $165 ÷ $2.00 = 83 billable resolutions. Add the 15 included and you get about 98 resolutions a month. At the $1.50 committed reference rate, the point is $165 ÷ $1.50 = 110, plus 15, or 125 a month. Above that volume, model the AI cost first and the seats second.
Committed resolutions are cheaper, but you buy them ahead. Neither the pricing page nor the help center article says what happens to committed resolutions you do not use. Ask before you buy a block.
Worked example 3: 10 agents on Suite Professional
Assumptions: 10 agents, paid yearly. You need skills-based routing, so you pick Suite Professional. You get about 3,000 conversations a month, and the AI resolves 1,000 of them. You add Copilot for all 10 agents.
Seats:
- 10 agents × $115 = $1,150 per month
Resolutions, at the reference rate:
- Included: 10 agents × 10 = 100 per month
- Billable: 1,000 minus 100 = 900 per month
- Committed: 900 × $1.50 = $1,350 per month
- Pay-as-you-go: 900 × $2.00 = $1,800 per month
Copilot:
- 10 agents × $50 = $500 per month
Totals:
| Setup | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Seats + committed resolutions | $2,500 | $30,000 |
| Seats + committed resolutions + Copilot | $3,000 | $36,000 |
| Seats + pay-as-you-go resolutions + Copilot | $3,450 | $41,400 |
On monthly billing, the seats alone are 10 × $149 = $1,490, which adds $340 a month.
For comparison, the same team on Suite Team pays 10 × $55 = $550 for seats. Included resolutions are 10 × 5 = 50, so 950 are billable. At the $1.50 reference rate, that is $1,425. The total is $1,975 per month. You give up skills-based routing, the IVR phone tree, and the 100 included light agents, and you cannot add Copilot.
Costs that are not in the headline price
The general guide to AI support pricing covers hidden costs across vendors. These are the ones specific to Zendesk.
- Per-resolution AI fees. $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go above the included 5 or 10 per agent, at the pricing-page reference rate. New accounts get negotiated tier prices. Overage is billed monthly, even on an annual plan.
- Copilot. $50 per agent per month, paid yearly, Professional and higher only.
- Light agents. Suite Professional includes up to 100 light agents. A light agent can read tickets and add private comments. They cannot reply to customers. Suite Team includes no light agents, and Support Team lists none at all. Zendesk sells a light agents add-on for more seats, but its price is not published. Anyone who needs to answer a customer, such as a founder or an engineer, needs a full agent seat.
- Voice minutes. Telephony is listed on Suite Team, but inbound and outbound minutes are billed per minute on a separate rate page.
- Social channels and text messages. WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and SMS are listed with “Additional fees apply”.
- Other add-ons. The Workforce Engagement Bundle is $50 per agent per month, paid yearly. Contact Center is $83 per agent per month, paid yearly. Extra Action Builder credits are $200 per 100,000 actions per subscription term.
- The annual commitment. On a yearly plan, the pricing page says plan changes “may apply immediately or at renewal depending on your subscription terms”. If you drop from 3 agents to 2 in month 4, you can still owe for 3 until renewal.
Questions to ask on the sales call
Copy this list into your call notes. Each question covers a price that the public page does not answer.
- Which resolution-tier prices apply to a new account, and how do they compare with the $1.50 and $2.00 on the pricing page?
- What happens to committed resolutions I do not use by the end of the term?
- How is a conversation counted if the customer stops replying without saying the issue is solved?
- What is the Copilot price on monthly billing? Do I have to buy it for every agent?
- What does the light agents add-on cost per seat?
- What are the per-minute voice rates for my country?
- Can I reduce seats in the middle of an annual term?
- Do we qualify for the startup program?
When Zendesk is worth it
Zendesk is the better choice in these cases:
- Email and phone are your main channels. Zendesk has full email ticketing, telephony, and an IVR phone tree on Professional. Most small AI tools have neither.
- You run a support organization with process. SLA policies, skills-based routing, and (on Enterprise) approval workflows and a sandbox matter when 10 or more people share one queue.
- You need integrations. The Zendesk Marketplace lists 1,000+ prebuilt apps and integrations.
- Your AI resolution volume is low. If the AI resolves fewer than about 98 conversations a month on 3 Suite Team seats, the AI line stays under the seat line, and the included resolutions absorb part of it.
- You qualify for the startup program. Six months of the Suite for up to 50 agents changes the first-year math a lot.
Zendesk is a weaker fit when most of your volume is chat, the AI does most of the work, and the whole company needs inbox access. Then both meters grow with use.
A flat-priced comparison
SupportHQ uses a flat price. Starter is $29 per month for 2,000 conversations. Growth is $49 per month for 3,000 conversations and unlimited projects. Both plans include unlimited team members and the AI agent. There are no per-seat or per-resolution fees.
| Team | Zendesk (from the examples above) | SupportHQ |
|---|---|---|
| 3 agents, 1,000 conversations, 300 AI resolutions | $592.50 to $735 per month at the reference rate | Starter, $29 per month |
| 10 agents, 3,000 conversations, 1,000 AI resolutions | $2,500 to $3,450 per month at the reference rate | Growth, $49 per month. Growth caps at 3,000 conversations in a rolling 30 days, so this team has no headroom. |
The meters differ too. The Zendesk AI meter bills only the conversations the AI resolves. SupportHQ counts every conversation, resolved or not.
The price gap is large, but the products are not the same. SupportHQ has no email ticketing or email inbox, no phone or voice, no SLA engine, and no app marketplace. It covers a website chat widget, Telegram, and Discord, with a unified inbox and handoff to a person. If your customers email or call you, SupportHQ does not replace Zendesk. Our Zendesk alternative page has the full feature comparison.
The short version
A 3-person team pays $165 a month on Suite Team, paid yearly, before the AI does any work. At 300 AI resolutions a month, it pays $592.50 to $735 at the reference rate. Estimate your resolution volume before you compare plans. The KPIs for AI-assisted teams show how to measure it.
